Adobe Acquires Figma for whopping 20 billion
Hello, guys welcome back hope you all are doing good recently Adobe acquired Figma for 20 billion dollars on Sep 15, and Adobe just released a lengthy announcement which is double the actual cost of Figma which is huge money, I have seen this news on Twitter it was surprising and shocking.
In the product design world, this news gets viral like it everywhere on Twitter, and LinkedIn. Lots of memes have been made. Some people are liking it some people don’t, basically, the reasons for not liking both platforms should work differently because Figma has been doing incredible work these last few years, they have created such software which is loved by designers, developers, and product managers.
I think Adobe wants to lead the product design industry. I think they will accelerate the growth. It might increase revenue. Adobe not only takes applications but also their IP, talents, and expertise. But it might be a good thing like Figma expertise we can see in the future for Photoshop, Illustrator can work on web and app and might be collaborative as well. Adobe Typekit wil be very handy in the Figma collection. This might be a good or bad thing nobody knows if it can grow 3–4 times more than the current rate. They will provide the offering Figma which is a community aspect like a free event happening in the city or free events happening online.
Why people are concerned the reason is if you started the designing journey this year or back then you definitely started with Adobe Xd, Sketch, or Figma but I started the journey in 2013–2014 we use to make designs in photoshop. we use to make an app or website design in photoshop then slice the assets and give it to the developer then after that zeppelin come which reduce some work for us designer we use to upload the design in a zeppelin and from there developers used to download the assets. Photoshop was too cumbersome it was not for the product design, it can be used as an alternative. if you have a Figma you will definitely not think about photoshop it use to make files so heavy if there are more than 20–30 screens for a single app. Then I think from 2017–2018 please don’t quote me, I may be the wrong sketch came at that time with that adobe xd parallelly Figma was also growing in the product world their interface was very easy to understand and pretty similar with each other and they have a necessary feature which we require to design product like app or website. It was like a new journey had started for UI design. The sketch was also easy to use but the main problem was that it will work on MacBook. I remember many organizations shifted to mac from windows like ordering the bulk of MacBooks just because a few market leaders were talking about the sketch, it was funny that people start following just because a few top people were using it. I will suggest don’t just shift instantly for anything because some top leaders were switching you never know the priorities of anyone, it’s best you just calm down and do the research is there any other alternative way? And that time few other people started using Adobe Xd and Figma. So I started using adobe xd which was also a great app that works with windows also, Like I was also a user of Adobe Xd it was a great tool to work it was also very smooth but doesn’t get similar success as Figma the best part of Figma its works also on the browser like you can work from any part of the world you just require login credentials an internet that’s it.
Figma is so easy to use you can invite developers, designers, business analysts, product managers, and stakeholders for collaborations. Basically, Figma provides a community so any designer can publish their work. People shifted to Figma because of easiness. Because if anybody’s switching to Figma they don’t want to go back to Adobe Xd. The good thing is Adobe and Figma both save in the cloud so both big cloud companies come together with better infrastructure on a positive aspect of faster load time and improved storage reliability of the platform concerned.
I think it was all part of a plan for these 2–3 months. Figma was pushing their premium plans but now we got to know why it was happening. And guys will suggest that don’t depend only on one software you never know what will happen in the future. Like most people have started from photoshop now they are in Figma. Might be in the future some different software, application or AI will be there.
If we take it in a positive way more innovation might happen, so might be after collaboration they will work on more features, and the good can news is that Figma will get more resources. Figma’s expertise and knowledge in product design applications can bring more creativity. Figma has a technological advantage and a die-hard community on product design so let’s hope the good thing is adobe should not kill Figma by adding too many things and keep its popularity of Figma.
Might be they do a mix of Adobe Xd and Figma to make new something different nobody knows but Adobe has a good thing about the library any Adobe software can use their library to download their assets. So if you are a Figma user now you are an adobe user. Figma, Fig Jam is a great tool Figma community is a great resource. Let me know in the chat what’s the good thing about both the software you liked.
The disadvantage can be sketched can come out of the box it would be very bad then because it works on mac only. The stock price of Adobe has gone down 50%. I don’t know if it might be an unnecessary cost for an income statement to Adobe with this huge amount of 20 billion dollars. Let me know in the comment box below what are your thoughts about this deal do you hate it or love it?
